This past Monday (September 28th), we held our “Local Appreciation Reception” at the Resort. The event was a nice gathering where valued guests, both past and future, were able to sample popular items from our menu. The buffet featured our International Cheese & Cracker Display, Chipotle Steak Quesadillas, Calamari, Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Peel & Eat Shrimp, Chicken Fried Steak, Jamaican Jerk Seasoned Pork Tenderloin, Polynesian Short Ribs, and plenty of tasty deserts.

Guests were able to enjoy a wine tasting complements of Gallo wines. Guests sampled a variety of wines such as pinot noir, chardonnay, merlot, and pinot grigio. We had our local wine representative on hand to discuss wine and food pairing.

Our guests didn’t leave empty-handed either. We had door prizes and giveaways from Sam Adams Boston Beer Company. Our grand prize was a complimentary stay at the beautiful Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada. The winner for the grand prize was Mr. Bob Schacher from Lawton, OK.

The Lodge will have another event very similar in the near future. We’ll keep you updated on times/dates, but please contact General Manager James Shandor at (580) 563-3010 for more details.

Join us at the Robert M. Kerr Performing Arts Center at the gorgeous Quartz Mountain State Park for a truly intimate evening with world-renowned guitarist Pepe Romero. During this evening, you will delight in the opportunity to hear the Quartz Mountain Chamber Players collaborate with Pepe, beginning with the Mozart oboe quarted, featuring the phenomenal oboist, Joseph Robinson, along with our friends, Annie Chalex on violin, Oklahoma’s own Royce McLarry on viola, and Stephen Thomas on cello. Next, you will experience spectacular music showcasing the great country of ours, as Annie, Royce, and Stephen are joined by violinist Keith Redpath, and violist Joe Bob, performing String Circle, by Kenji Bunch – a musical journey of Americana. Finally, Pepe joins our friends on stage, sharing with you the amazingly, rhapsodic experience of the Boccherini Fandango quintet, bringing the evening, conducted by Michael Palmer, to a sizzling finish!

Pepe continues in concert on Saturday, July 26th, where you will experience a wonderful contrast of emotion, from the emphatic tones of the Mozart, Haffner Symphony, to the Poetic heartbeat of a child yet to be born, shared with us by the lyrical guitar in Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez. Finally, the conclusion of our program features the wild tarantella dance of the Mendelssohn, Symphony no. 4, bringing this concert’s end to a fever pitch. With all of this taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Quartz Mountain, this evening…this weekend…is one you don’t want to miss!

July 25th and 26th at 8pm at the Robert M. Since 1977, the Oklahoma Arts Institute has been hosting educational programs taught by esteemed artists of all different platforms in the visual, literary, and performing arts. These summer classes are specifically designed for junior high school and high school students (and graduating seniors) between the ages of 14 and 18 who are very motivated and serious about their field. Students come for everything from acting and dancing, to creative writing, to photography and video. All students accepted into the program are given full scholarships, worth over $2,400, from the Oklahoma State Department of Education as well as from private donations.

The summer program is held at the Oklahoma Arts and Conference Center, at Quartz Mountain Resort, for two full weeks in June (this year from June 14th through the 29th), with the students sleeping, dining, and performing across the grounds.

A typical day for the talented artists and performers includes a movement class bright and early, morning and afternoon classes, breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Resort’s Sundance Cafe, ballroom dancing lessons, evening performances and demonstrations, and cabin meetings to end the night.

This year’s New Years Eve event at Quartz Mountain Resort was by far the best on record!

The food was over the top. Our chefs absolutely outdid themselves for this party. There was something for every palate on the buffet table, and we’re sure no one went back to their room hungry!

The John Arnold band was fantastic! From the first song to the last dance, the floor was never empty and those dancing seemed to be really enjoying themselves.  Again, there was something for everyone – from country, to rock ‘n roll to swing! There are some wonderful dancers in Oklahoma!

So, don’t miss out this year. Mark your calendars now to call us as early as November to make your reservations. Call your friends and have them do the same so you can reserve a table where you can all sit together and party!

Have you ever seen a Bald Eagle? Our national bird is undoubtedly one of the most majestic creatures on Earth. If you’ve never had the chance to catch a Bald Eagle in flight, you should make it a point to come out to Quartz Mountain for a visit this winter, during bird-watching season.

The trees are bare, the skies are clear, and there are approximately 96 different species of birds that will be gracing the mountain during traveling bird-watchers’ favorite season. Hike down to the trails of Quartz Mountain State Park to see the Lake Sparrow and Painted Bunting. Bring your camera to capture those memorable shots and upload them onto Quartz Mountain Resort’s new Flickr account…you may even win a free visit to the Resort!
